Admission


Admission is $7.00 for adults (13+), $4.00 for children 5-12 years old, and children under 4 are FREE. The admission charge includes a ride on our World's Fair miniature train and a guided tour of the Riverhead and Greenport sites. Admission tickets are good for both the Riverhead and Greenport sites during the same year stamped on your ticket when purchased.

The Riverhead Visitor's Center is located at 416 Griffing Avenue, just north of the railroad tracks. It is accessible by railroad, bus and, automobile.


By Long Island Rail Road: Take the train to the Riverhead station. The museum restoration site is directly across the tracks and across Griffing Avenue from the station. For schedule and fare information, you may call the LIRR at (631) 231-LIRR or visit their web page.


From Western Long Island: Take the Long Island Expressway eastbound to Exit 72, NYS Route 25 East (Main Street). Follow Route 25 approximately three miles. Turn left onto Griffing Avenue and proceed for two blocks. The museum is on the right just over the railroad tracks.


From the North Fork: Take NYS Route 25 through downtown Riverhead. Turn right onto Griffing Avenue and proceed for two blocks. The museum is on the right just over the railroad tracks.


From the South Fork: Follow local roads to the Peconic Avenue traffic circle in Riverhead. Proceed north on Peconic Avenue to Main Street. Turn left for one block and then turn right onto Griffing Avenue and proceed for two blocks. The museum is on the right just over the railroad tracks.


Parking is available on site and the museum building and grounds are handicapped accessible. The rail cars have limited access.

The museum is located just west of the Greenport LIRR station and is accessible by railroad, bus, ferry and by automobile.


By Long Island Rail Road: Take the train to Greenport Station. The museum is directly across from the west end of the train station platform. For schedule and fare information, you may call the LIRR at (631) 231-LIRR or visit their web page.


By Bus: Daily bus service is provided by Sunrise Coach. For schedule and fare information, you may call them at (800) 527-7709.


By Ferry From New London, Connecticut: To get to the museum from New London, take the ferry to Orient Point. For schedule and fare information, and to make reservations (strongly recommended), you may call the Cross Sound Ferry at (631) 323-2525. (You may call (860) 443-5281 from Connecticut.) From the ferry terminal in Orient follow NYS Route 25 through Greenport to Front Street. Turn left onto Fourth Street and go two blocks to the railroad tracks. The museum will be on the left. Parking is available outside of the museum.


By Ferry from Shelter Island: Take the ferry to Greenport; the museum is across the parking lot from the ferry slip. For schedule and fare information, contact the North Ferry Co. at 631-749-0139 or visit their web site.


From Western Long Island: Take the Long Island Expressway to the last exit, Exit 73, County Route 58 east. This route is also known as Old Country Road. Take this route east to the intersection with NYS Route 25. Take Route 25 east. Route 25 is also known as the Main Road. Follow Route 25 east until the Village of Greenport is reached. Greenport is approximately 23 miles east of the end of the Long Island Expressway. Main Road becomes Front Street in Greenport. Make a right turn onto Fourth Street and go two blocks to the railroad tracks. The museum will be on the left. Parking is available outside of the museum.


From the South Fork: Take NYS Route 24 west to the Peconic traffic circle in Riverhead, turn right (north) to NYS Route 25 (Main Street) then turn right (east) and follow Route 25 east to Greenport. Route 25 becomes Front Street in Greenport. Make a right turn onto Fourth Street and go two blocks to the railroad tracks. The museum will be on the left. An alternate route is to take NYS Route 114 to Sag Harbor and take the south ferry to Shelter Island, follow Route 114 (north) and then take the north ferry to Greenport. The museum is across the parking lot from the north ferry terminal. Parking is available outside of the museum.
